You're Never Alone

Welcome Leaders, We know it's a stressful time of year to be a teacher.  It's that time of year.  You know it.  That Halloween to Christmas season.  The season where all around us people are bursting with joy and merriness, and we're trapped in a shaken snow globe. Snowflakes.   Smiles. Freedom. To be one of them.  To be on the outside celebrating.  But reality is, we're inside fighting amid a flurry.  We're fighting a daily battle.  For our learners.  Against insurmountable odds.  And often, we feel defeated.  It feels like there's no solution - like we're stuck.  Soon, we find ourselves counting down the days to Christmas as well.  Joyfully, because that means we'll get a break.  Merrily, because that means we'll have room to breathe.  We'll get rest for two weeks.  Two weeks to recharge before we go back to fighting our battles. "What battles?" you say.  If you're a teacher, you...

National Pickle Day

(Updated 10/19/2023.) Leaders, Happy Men Make Dinner Day! Did you know there are actual rules to this day? Check them out!  We'd love to hear what you had for dinner tonight. If you're willing to share, post it in the comments below! We wonder if your dinner included pickles. Why do we wonder that? Because we've had National Pickle Day on our mind. Do you like pickles? We do! I prefer dill and the Mr. prefers bread and butter. What is your favorite type? Interesting Pickle Facts While preparing for National Pickle Day (November 14th), we learned quite a lot. First of all, did you know pickles are really quite healthy for you? Athletes swear by drinking pickle juice post-workout.  It is extremely effective at relieving muscle cramps and restoring electrolytes. When fermented, pickles contain probiotics which results in healthier microbiomes for our gut! Pickles may help control blood sugar, prevent cancer, and reduce the effects of aging. If you're not already ...

Leaders, If you're following along  with our Idea for Everyday Calendar , you know today is National Love Your Red Hair Day.  I'm curious as to whether or not any of you celebrated with a red-haired character?  There are some really great ideas out there for each of the suggested characters on the calendar, the most popular ones being Fancy Nancy and Anne of Green Gables.   Remember to check out our Pinterest board for even more ideas to tickle your fancy.  We're trying to keep the board a week ahead of the action.  Also, we'd love your suggestions!  Have a pin you think should be added to the board?  Share it with us.  We'd love your contribution! Talking about staying a week ahead, a week from today is Chicken Soup for the Soul day.  The suggested activity on the calendar is to share a Chicken Soup story with your littles ( The Seed  and The Race  appear online at chickensoup.com).  Define what qualifies as...

NaNoWriMo

Leaders, I know what you're thinking. . . the title of this post is gibberish!  But if you're a writer - it's not.  If you're a writer, you know it's a glove thrown down.  An open invitation to embrace a challenge that calls your name.  You see, NaNoWriMo is code for Na tional No vel Wri ting Mo nth.  The challenge is for every writer wishing to engage to write 2,000 words a day.  Assuming you're successful, you will have 50,000 words by the end of November.  And this, my dear friends, constitutes a novel. The Mr. answered the call to this challenge and is working toward writing his first novel.  It is a novel that's been stewing in his head for years.  But now, putting fingertips to keyboard, his thoughts are taking form, being recorded keystroke by keystroke.  And, what's more exciting is he wishes to share his work with you!  We'll be posting his novel, chapter by chapter, here on Wolfe Stew.  To quickly find it,...
